You have no idea how many memories I have of my dad putting on your records when I was younger and just laughing along. Thank you.

First day of shooting went surprisingly well. Got everything in that I wanted to plus some extra stuff we came up with on set. You sometimes hear of unruly cast members or crew members on small stuff like this but we were smooth sailing all the way. So now all we have left is a 3-4 hour shoot next Sunday and we're done. Then into editing. Sigh. I am exhausted though.

Just spent some time working on the script for my short film Shadows. Shaping up pretty good. Got my shooting date about 97% locked in. Just waiting for my DP to get back to me on his schedule for that weekend. My actors are ready and seem to be excited. Nice that I'll be getting one of the big DON'TS in film out of the way in my first project. Got a 9 year old boy in the cast list for a majority of the shoot. Here's to hoping it turns out well.

Sigh. So I pretty much was in line to at least make it to the next round of the Massify contest but in the last half an hour people just got to far ahead of me and i ended up at 14th place. 4 spots to far back. Part of me is really annoyed as I know that my production value was much much better than most in the top ten. But as someone said earlier it wasn't about the quality of the work it was pretty much a popularity contest. And well I guess some people have more friends than I do. I watched as a lot of the people on that site would Friend with like 20 people a day. I didn't Friend people every day for the sake of trying to get votes. I campaigned on the site don't get me wrong. But I wasn't about to be fake friends with someone just for votes. So I guess the fact that I got all the way up to second place for awhile and ended up in 14th place on that merit alone should make me happy.

I want to tell myself that I'll just make the film myself but really I was kind of happy that with this I just got to make the story up and let someone else hash out the expensive details. Who knows. Maybe I will finally one day do something with it but until then I'm putting Scary Mary on the back burner and focusing on other things.

Alright folks. We've broken into the top ten. But we need to stay there. We have a whole week before this round of voting is over. So a nice vote cushion would be great. So if you haven't voted go vote now. If my pitch wins it will be released as one of the 8 Films To Die For next fall. Even if it gets made and you guys don't like it then you can at least complain to the guy responsible for it. When has that ever happened before. Help make this OUR movie. I post around here all the time so I'll be able to update everyone on the making of the movie, the process, and can take your complaints. So if anyone could help me out that would be awesome. Head on over, watch the trailer, and vote. Thanks guys.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I have entered a contest where I pitch a horror movie idea and people vote on it. The one that gets the most votes wins and that movie gets made. If I win I’ll get a producer credit and story by credit as well as being involved with the making of the movie. The competition ends on March 17th. The winning pitch is only winning with 70 votes. So every vote counts. If you get a chance head on over and watch the trailer I made for it as well as read the idea for my movie. You’ll have to register with the site to vote but it’s free and I would love all of you if you helped me to win. So head over and check it out:

Heath Ledger

  • Jan. 28th, 2008 at 1:48 AM
Thinking
So I put off blogging about this I guess just so I could wrap my head around it. All in all I guess I would say I am majorly bummed. It's weird. I mean I was never a HUGE fan of Heath Ledger. I didn't say to anyone "Hey, the new Heath Ledger movie is out. Let's go!" But I guess all in all I always respected him because I knew he had talent. And because he was an actor that seemed to do everything right. After 10 THINGS I HATE ABOUT you he could have easily went the teen comedy route but instead from what i have hear he spent a whole year basically broke because he waited until a good project came along. Gotta give him props for that. But I guess all in all it's just sad because the whole thing is looking more and more like an accident. Just some small stupid thing that could have been changed by one small action. Maybe we'll find out it was an anuierism or something but at the moment it looks like just medications badly mixing together. So that makes it so much more tragic. He just seemed to be on such a great track lately. I have to be honest that when I heard he was going to be the next Joker I wasn't exactly excited. I mean i had heard the rumors of Adrian Brody and Cripsin Glover (both of which I think would have brought something awesome to the character). So my hopes were a little dashed. But I gave both Heath and Nolan credit and took a wait and see approach. The first time I saw him in the trailer I knew right away it was the best choice. I said to myself "Yes. That is the Joker I want to see. Good job Heath." So it may come as a weird ironic twist that it was the psychology of the character of The Joker that may have caused Heath to have trouble sleeping and thus using a lot of sleeping meds. Only time will tell. But a great actor is gone and someone that I think would have marveled us all in the future with some of his performances.

On the flip side of this I have to hand out some Tacky awards. First off I think reporters asking people on the red carpets of movies at Sundance before it was even released that he had died was pretty tacky. But we did get to see how many people he had touched. I watched as many celebs found out this way. People like Nick Stahl (John Connor from T3) who didn't believe it at first but when told it was real had to just take a step back from the media line to just compose himself. But many people at Sundance found out that way. Little tacky but at least we got to see some real emotion from people who knew him. My other Tacky award goes to the stupid ass church that is boycotting his funeral. A church (it's a high profile one but the name eludes me) are going to boycott his funeral because he played a gay cowboy in Brokeback Mountain. Seriously. Fucking dumbasses. This is the greatest example of why I have strayed away from organized religion. Yeah it's just one group in the sea of religion but still. They were handing out fliers even. I saw one scanned online. It said something to the fact that Heath Ledger was burning in hell for his portrayl and acceptance of homosexuals. Really? Those people are by far the stupidest people on the face of the planet. the man's family is going through enough without all you idiots making a mockery out of his funeral. Jackasses.

And in what i thought was a cool thing I was watching The Soup the other night and at the very end a pic of Heath popped up and Joel tells us that in all the years the Soup has been on the air they have never had reason to mention Heath (they only make fun of stupid celebs) so to stop looking for dirt in their past episodes. A great talent and all around great guy is gone and that sucks. I thought that was really cool. A show that is known for making fun of celebs taking a moment to aknowledge him in a serious manner. It's even on youtube so look below to watch the small clip. Heath we'll miss ya. Thanks for everything.
